I believe very strongly in a fair go and this has been one of my guiding principles for as long as I can remember. It motivates me to stand up against prejudice, racism and inequality.
As a woman, I have experienced discrimination and sexism, so as a feminist I am determined to make my world a fairer place for all women. I strive to be a positive role model for the women around me and I encourage women to reach their full potential and to be bold and brave.
On a very personal level, loyalty is one of my key traits.
In my time as a trade union organiser I saw firsthand that the values of fairness, compassion and equity are not always inherent in our workplaces. In that role, and now as a Labor Senator, I have been privileged to drive change where my principles provide the foundations for my work.
